Captain Ross grew up in Bequia in the Caribbean, where his father worked as a skipper, and he began sailing as a teenager. In 2012, he moved to Maine to work aboard an Alden schooner, where he met Kate, who shared his passion for sailing and travel. After more than a decade working together at sea, they purchased Liberté in 2025 from Chris and Jane Tietje. Now based in Falmouth with their two daughters, Ross and Kate operate Liberté with a highly experienced crew, many of whom have been sailing aboard her for years.
