  I booked this sunset tiki boat cruise for my sister’s bachelorette party, expecting a private, celebratory experience. Unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing parts of our weekend. The biggest issue was that we were never informed that our reservation would be a shared cruise. Nowhere during the booking process or in our confirmation email did it state that we would be sharing the boat with another group, nor were we given the option to choose between a private or public cruise. We only found out when we arrived at the dock. The other group onboard told us they were just as surprised and disappointed as we were. Had this been clearly disclosed, we would have booked something else. Instead, we planned an intimate bachelorette celebration and ended up sharing the experience with strangers. To make matters worse, the captain repeatedly initiated political conversations throughout the cruise. Regardless of anyone’s political beliefs, that’s simply not appropriate for a customer experience—especially one centered around celebrating a special occasion. Our group wanted to relax, enjoy the sunset, and spend time together, not be drawn into political discussions. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and took away from what should have been a fun evening. After reaching out privately to the company, I was disappointed by the response. Rather than addressing the lack of disclosure or the captain’s conduct, the responsibility was shifted to the booking platform. From a customer’s perspective, that’s not an acceptable answer. Businesses are ultimately responsible for ensuring that the experiences they sell are accurately represented, regardless of which booking service processes the reservation. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope this one helps future customers. If you’re booking for a birthday, bachelorette, anniversary, or any special event, make sure you receive written confirmation that your cruise is private before you arrive. I certainly wish we had.
