Background: Captain Steve holds a 100-ton Merchant Mariner Credential with a sailing endorsement issued by the United States Coast Guard. He is also certified in First Aid and holds STCW safety-at-sea credentials. Steve has been sailing since childhood. Most of his professional career was spent as a high school history teacher and sailing coach, while also working during the summers as the director of a junior sailing school at a yacht club on Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. After retiring from teaching, Capt. Steve ran charters in Newport, RI, including serving as captain of an America’s Cup defender, before starting his own business.
Techniques: In addition to sailing excursions on "Omoo," Buzzards Bay Yacht Charters is certified with the American Sailing Association and offers a full compliment of sailing lessons ranging from never-ever beginners to Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Charter certification classes. If you're looking for a picnic boat, spectator or photography boat, we also offer a Dyer 29 powerboat available for day charters.
