Captain Mack W. Steagall, as issued by the United States Coast Guard, holds a U.S. Merchant Marine 100 Ton Master License with endorsements for commercial sailing and towing. He is STCW-95 and TWIC certified, and certified in CPR and First Aid by the American Red Cross. He also holds a Remains Disposal License (CRD#1032) and is a CYBA licensed yacht salesman. Captain Mack founded Mariner Sailing Charters in 2004 and has over 20 years of experience taking guests sailing along the Southern California coast. Born in 1963 into a sailing family and based in Marina del Rey, he has lifelong experience on the water, beginning with his first solo sail at age 3 in an 8' Sabot dinghy. His family regularly sailed to Catalina Island, the Channel Islands, and Baja California. Throughout his career, he has operated and maintained a wide range of vessels, including sailing yachts, motor vessels, catamarans, and runabouts. He also owns Mack's Yacht Services, a full-service yacht maintenance and management company with over 35 years of experience. Captain Mack is highly skilled in yacht systems, including electronics, electrical, plumbing, rigging, painting, varnishing, fiberglass repair, and marine installations. He has completed numerous long-distance deliveries, including 1,000+ mile voyages from Mexico, and has extensive knowledge of weather patterns and navigation along the Southern California and Baja coasts. In addition to being a seasoned captain and marine professional, he is also a classically trained violist. Professional, experienced, and safety-focused, Captain Mack is dedicated to providing a safe, enjoyable, and memorable sailing experience aboard Amethyst.

A refundable deposit is not required by the charter operator.

Free cancellation up to 30 days prior to trip
You can cancel or modify your booking up to 30 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
Reserve with a 15% booking deposit, pay the captain the rest
When the captain confirms your trip, BoatBooker charges your credit card a 15% booking deposit to guarantee your reservation.
The remaining balance is to be paid directly to the charter operator on or prior to your trip date in one of the following payment methods:
