Marvin noticed stingrays gathering to feed on fish scraps in the North Sound. Years later, after serving in the Merchant Marine, he began offering boat trips to see the stingrays, using a borrowed sailboat. As snorkeling equipment became available, Capt. Marvin took guests to snorkel in the clear waters of North Sound, where they could interact with stingrays and enjoy fresh local seafood prepared by his wife, Ms. Anna. These all-day trips, which included fishing, conch collecting, and a delicious beachside lunch, sparked the area's fame for its stingrays and snorkeling. In the 1980s, divers began interacting with stingrays at the shallow sandbar, evolving the experience into what it is today. Capt. Marvin's celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2011, marking the second generation of ownership.
