Leverage Your Commission to Get Noticed
When potential customers search for boat experiences, they see results ranked by relevance. While your reliability score, customer reviews, and Instant Book status are the primary factors determining your position, there’s another tool at your disposal: your commission rate.
Commission as a Visibility Lever
Think of your commission rate as a visibility dial you can adjust as needed. It’s not the foundation of your ranking, but it can give you that competitive edge when it matters most. The best part? You have complete flexibility to change it based on your business needs throughout the year.
Breaking Through in Crowded Markets
Operating in a popular tourist destination with dozens of similar tours? A temporary commission increase can help your listing rise above competitors during peak booking periods. Even a small boost in visibility can translate to significant additional revenue when conversion rates are high.
Conquering the Off-Season
Those quieter months between peak seasons often mean more available inventory but fewer customers. This is the perfect time to consider a commission adjustment. Check your rankings during this time and see whether you should up your commission, or if you can lower while maintaining your position.
Building Momentum for New Listings
Just launched your BoatBooker profile? Consider starting with a slightly higher commission rate. This initial visibility boost can help you secure your first bookings faster, allowing you to collect those crucial early reviews that will strengthen your ranking naturally over time.
Finding Your Balance
What makes commission particularly valuable is its flexibility. Unlike other ranking factors that take time to build (like your review score), commission can be adjusted immediately when you need a visibility boost.
However, commission is just one tool in your marketing arsenal. The foundation of long-term success on BoatBooker will always be:
- Memorable customer experiences that generate 5-star reviews
- Completing trip requests to build your reliability score
- Convenient booking options that meet customer expectations – Instant Book and Advance Notice
When you combine these fundamentals with commission adjustments at the right times, you create a powerful approach to maximizing your visibility when it matters most.Ready to try it out? Log into your BoatBooker account today and explore how commission adjustments can help you reach your business goals this season.

Hi George, thanks for reaching out!
Currently, you have two payment options:
1. Pay in full online. Your customers pay for the whole trip up front using a credit card, and the money gets automatically released to you right after the trip has concluded successfully. This is available in the US only for now.
2. Deposit payment. BoatBooker’s reserves the customer’s deposit and you collect the remaining balance before or on the day of the trip using your preferred payment method: cash, credit card, or Paypal.
I’ll ask our Business Development Team to get in touch with you in case you have additional questions. Feel free to consult with them. They’re happy to help with all business-related questions 🙂

I thank you so much for having created a platform like this where we also get a chance to sale our activities. The challenge is that it’s docked on boat owners only. Im a licensed tourist guide who does almost entirely aquatic or fresh water exploration in Uganda I hire boats from owners so I don’t have boat documentation. My profile stops when questions of captain and boat certification come up. How can I be helped
