Sobre Barco de águas rasas
A Flats boat is built to run in very shallow water. It lets you reach calm flats, marsh edges, and backcountry bays where bigger boats cannot go. Book one if you want quiet, close-range sight fishing and a smooth, simple day on the water.
Most Flats boats are compact, often 15–20 feet long, with a wide, stable deck. They have a shallow draft, which means the hull sits high and needs little depth to float. Many include raised casting decks and a poling platform for a guide to move the boat in silence.
This skiff shines on shallow-water trips. Captains use a push pole or a trolling motor to ease along grass flats and sand bars. You can sight fish, make short, accurate casts, and cover water without a loud wake. It is ideal for fly or light-tackle action for classic shallow-water species.
A Flats boat suits small groups, often two anglers plus a guide. It is great for beginners who want clear tips and steady footing. It also rewards skilled anglers who value stealth and precise casts. Pack sun gear, a hat, polarized glasses, non-marking shoes, snacks, and water. Expect limited seating and storage by design, so travel light.
Before you go, check local rules for fishing licenses and permits. Know size and bag limits for your target fish. Make sure required USCG safety gear and life jackets (PFDs) are on board. Follow the posted speed zones, no-wake areas, and any poling or push-only zones. Ask your captain about weather, a simple float plan, and safe docking and anchoring steps.
