Slow, not for blue cave/Bay of Kotor
8 Hour – Boat Tour on August 11, 202610 adults
The Good: Captain was a nice guy, ready to change plans, propose alternatives, etc. But he didn't spoke english or Russian, so a bit tricky to communicate. The Bad: listing says boat can go "up to 18 knots". In reality with 9 guests, even on calm water it was able to reach only 6. We had a plan to go north from Budva to blue cave and reach Perast. Discussed this plan with owner (manager of the listing?), got green light. But it took forever even to reach blue cave (2 hours 15 minutes). As a result, original plan was scratched, everyone on the boat was very tired of endless motoring. I discussed this with Perisa (or who is managing listing) to update listing, but it wasn't done by the time of this review. Summary: boat should be fine to cruise around Budva, but it is not suitable for longer trips (in current state)
Response from Captain
August 25, 2026
The guests were completely normal and reasonable people. However, a boat, just like a car, has its own performance limitations, and the speed depends on several factors, including the number of passengers and the weather conditions, which were not ideal that day. I believe it would have been much worse for the entire Pilar company if we had tried to go faster than the conditions and safety allowed. Dragan is an experienced captain, and his top priorities are always the safety of the passengers and, naturally, taking proper care of the boat and avoiding any damage. There is also one important thing to keep in mind — Pilar is not a speedboat 🙂🙂🙂. It is a traditional boat with its own characteristics and purpose, and that is exactly why our guests choose it.
