Oyster Farm Tours – Savage Inlet Oyster Co is a 2025 Custom CC Center Console based in Nags Head, accommodating up to six guests. Powered by a 140 HP Honda outboard, the boat reaches speeds up to 30 knots and comes fully equipped with a baitwell, fishfinder, ice box, refrigerator, and rod holders for a comfortable and convenient outing.
Join Captain Bobby Smith, a seasoned local with decades of experience, for an unforgettable family-friendly tour to the Smith family’s oyster farm, home of the famous Savage Inlet Oysters—Outer Banks favorites! Visit one of the premier oyster-growing locations on the East Coast, where three sites sit just steps from the Atlantic, giving oysters ideal salty water and strong currents to thrive.
On this one-hour trip, you’ll learn about oyster farming techniques, the environmental benefits of oyster cultivation, and local history, all while enjoying hands-on experiences and tasting fresh oysters straight from the farm. Trips are flexible to fit your schedule, usually offered in the morning or late afternoon during the summer for the best conditions.
Alcohol is welcome, children are encouraged, and the boat comes fully equipped with USCG-approved safety gear for a secure and enjoyable experience.

Unforgettable Oyster Farm Experience – An anniversary Highlight!
We booked an oyster tour with Russell and Captain Bobby for our anniversary, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of our trip! They took us out to their oyster farm, where we learned all about how oysters are grown, harvested, and sold. It was both educational and incredibly fun. The weather was perfect, and both Russell and Captain Bobby were friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. On the way back, Captain Bobby even shucked oysters for us right on the boat, and we got to enjoy the freshest oysters we’ve ever tasted—absolutely delicious! We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable experience. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, learning, and adventure!

Our time with Captain Bobby and Russel was exceptional, both are knowledgeable and fun to talk to. This tour exceeded our expectations and proved to be a true education of the local oyster farming industry. Their experience on our waterways was evident as they answered so many questions for us. The tour itself offered the opportunity to see the oyster habitat, including discussions of future plans of management. We enjoyed tasting the fresh oysters and seeing how the oyster shelves are retrieved. We highly recommend this experience and look forward to doing this again!
